UFC Strawweight Contender Mackenzie Dern Predicts Upcoming Title Change in Zhang Weili vs. Amanda Lemos Showdown
UFC strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern predicts that a new champion will emerge in her division soon. According to Dern, current champion Zhang Weili will relinquish her belt when she faces challenger Amanda Lemos at UFC 292 on August 19 in Boston. Dern not only foresees Weili losing the fight, but she also believes that Lemos will secure a knockout victory.
In a recent interview with Michael Bisping, Dern expressed her confidence in Lemos' ability to triumph over Weili. Dern even admitted that Lemos is one of the fighters she would prefer not to face at this moment. Recognizing Weili's formidable skills and her status as the world's top strawweight fighter, Dern still maintains that Lemos has the potential to catch Weili during their 25 minutes of combat.
Drawing from Rose Namajunas' success in landing a precise kick on Weili, Dern envisions Lemos delivering a similar impactful blow. While acknowledging Weili's ground game, Dern does not believe that Weili possesses the strength or submission style of Jessica Andrade. Instead, Dern suggests that Lemos has the power and technique to deliver a knockout punch within the allotted time frame.
